We are exploring the theme of water at present and aim to get our third Green Flag in early 2012.

Water is a valuable resource, yet we often take it for granted.  We must make sure that we don't waste or pollute it in our everyday activities.

Action Week
The school held an Action Week last June where children participated in activities such as face-painting etc.

Water butt
The school purchased a water butt which is invaluable for watering our school garden.

Focus on Water Fortnight
The school is currently engaged in a 'Focus on Water Fortnight' where there will be an emphasis on the water theme for this period.  This fortnight began on Monday 21st November and we will endeavour to explore the theme of water throughout the curriculum.

Bring Batteries Back
Following the recent launch of the nationwide initiative 'Bring Batteries Back' we are asking children to bring any used batteries to school for recycling.  It is estimated that if each person in Ireland were to recycle just one battery, an incredible 100 tonnes would be diverted from Ireland's landfill.  so start recycling those batteries!  There has been a great response so far.

Mobile Phone Collection
Fourth class were engaged in a mobile phone collection in aid of supporting the building of a well in a developing country.  They collected €65 which will be forwarded to Oxfam Ireland.  We continue to collect old mobiles so please forward any used mobiles to the school.

Bring a Bag to School Day
The school in conjunction with the Parents Association are holding a 'Bring a Bag to School Day' on Tuesday 6th December where parents are invited to bring their clean unwanted clothes and shoes to the school for collection by a licensed textile recycling company.

Energy & Litter Squads
Our Energy Squad has re-commenced their duties in making sure lights are turned off and doors closed with great results.  The Litter Squad re due to re-commence in the coming days.
